Rhonda Henley-Smith BSc
Biomedical Scientist

Rhonda is a HCPC registered biomedical scientist who completed her BSc in Laboratory Medicine at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia before starting her career in the Anatomical Pathology department at the Royal Children’s and Woman’s Hospitals in Melbourne.  She gained extensive experience in routine diagnostic histopathology, participating in all areas of the department as well as the mortuary.

In 2008 Rhonda decided to take a leap of faith and move to the UK.  She worked in the Head & Neck Pathology department at Guy’s Hospital performing all routine diagnostic tasks as a locum.  She then moved to Neuropathology at King’s College Hospital before returning to Guy’s Hospital to set up and run the Head & Neck Biobank in 2010.

Since starting in this role Rhonda has integrated the Head & Neck biobank into the diagnostic service and seen the bank grow to participating in research projects as well processing translational samples for clinical trials involving head & neck patients.
