Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust includes a specialist tertiary referral centre for oesophago-gastric cancer diagnosis and treatment in the London Cancer Network Area. Referrals come from Central and South East London area. Due to the outstanding outcomes of the surgery at Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, it also receives referrals from across the UK.
The surgical team at Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust have the highest caseload of oesophago-gastric cancer resection surgery in the London area, making it the ideal centre for the collection of tissue, blood and associated clinical and pathology data in this tumour group.
King’s Health Partners Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Biobank was initiated by Professor Jesper Lagergren, who is Professor of Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer at Kings’ College London and Professor of Surgery at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
