Betsy Arefaine PhD MSc BSc
Biobank Consent Co-Ordinator
Betsy graduated from King’s College London with a BSc in Biochemistry and stayed on to complete an MSc in drug discovery skills. She then worked as a senior technician in the KCL Infectious Diseases Biobank, whilst undertaking her PhD in Infection and Immunology.
Betsy then moved to the Institute of Hepatology, where she worked as a Research assistant in the Microbiome in advanced chronic liver disease group.
After 3 years, she joined the KHP Cancer Biobank as the Consent Coordinator where her role is to oversee, and unify consenting methods used across all banks. She has established a new, remote consenting pathway using electronic methods to share biobank information with patients and has the ultimate goal of setting up a fully electronic-consent pathway.
