The King’s Health Partners Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Cancer Biobank was established in 2011.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist tertiary referral centre for the diagnosis and treatment of oesophago-gastric cancer within the London Cancer Network. Patients are referred from across Central and Southeast London, and due to the exceptional surgical outcomes at Guy’s and St Thomas’, referrals also come from other regions across the UK.

With the highest volume of oesophago-gastric cancer resections in the London area, the surgical team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is ideally positioned to support extensive sample and data collection in this field.

The biobank collects tissue and blood samples, along with comprehensive pathological data, patient demographics, clinical information, and follow-up details.

Applications to access the biobank’s samples or data are accepted from investigators in both academic and commercial sectors.
