Amy Pope MSc BSc

Specialist Chief Technician

Amy is a Chief Specialist Technician within the KHP Biobank and leads on all clinical trial related activity, focusing on cancer related early phase and translational clinical trials. 

 

She has supported over 100 clinical trials, overseeing trial setup within the Biobank and coordinating the collection, handling and processing of patient samples once trials are open. As a key point of contact for various trial teams, she works closely with clinical and trial staff to ensure samples are processed to the highest standards and in line with trial requirements. 

 

Such samples include patient biopsies and blood samples, for which she provides specialised lab-based expertise such as PBMC processing, immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, microtomy and cryotomy. She also contributes to the processing of the thousands of routine samples received each year within the Biobank.

 

Amy’s background is in cancer and medical sciences and holds a BSc (Hons) in Medical Sciences with Professional Training Year from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Cancer and Molecular and Cellular Biology from Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London.
