Rachael Fortune-Grant BSc

Technical Manger

Rachael graduated from the University of Manchester with a B.Sc in Pharmacology in 2016, including a placement year at the University of Nevada, Reno. She began her career as a Scientific Officer at Cancer Research UK in Manchester, as a member of the clinical and experimental pharmacology group.

In 2018, Rachael joined Manchester Fungal Infection Group as their Infection Technician, becoming an expert in murine models of aspergillosis, as well as managing their cell culture facility. It was during this time that she found a love for technical roles and maintaining a good environment for other scientists to do their best research.

After spending 6 months in an immunology parasitology lab, also at University of Manchester, Rachael took a 6 month career break to travel Central and South America. Upon returning to the UK, she joined Pharmaron, a gene therapy focussed CDMO in her hometown of Liverpool, transferring her wide range of technical and lab management skills to a GMP environment.

Rachael moved to London with her partner in 2025 to join the KCL Biobank as a Technical Manager on the Pharos AI team. Outside of work, Rachael practices and teaches yoga, dances, drinks red wine and plays board games.
